Most people's memories are like Swiss cheese: full of holes.
These are filled with "fizzy, trivial entertainment" 24/7/365. In addition, people are kept very busy barely raising the funds to pay for an ordinary life which helps memory-holing the rest...
My take on this is dim: Only a long-lasting, wide-spread severe famine, mixed with economic decline, domestic crime, some more artificially construed wars and health-crises that take out a large percentage of the plebes will re-ignite the dormant survival-instinct of a small percentage of survivors. From these, only about a third will be able and courageous enough to organize a backlash.
Only the global south will have this chance; the current West is doomed for good.
